I hope no one minds me posting this here . . but I have one friend left from my graduating class, Melissa. We have been friends since we were 15. She called me on the 6th to tell me that her brother, Keith A. Nurnberg, was killed in Iraq the day before. Keith was 26, newly married, first baby due in Nov.It's been a tough week. It's been in the papers, all over the news . . and it shocks me to hear it and see it this way when to me, they're just the family I've known all these years.Friday night was the wake and yesterday was the funeral. They were the most emotional things I've ever seen. I still can't believe this happened to Keith, the crazy jokester of a kid I remember. I have many stories of everything I've seen since this happened, but don't even know what to say right now. Because I have other Reiki people on this board, I'd just like to ask for some energy to be sent to the Nurnberg family. Thankyou so much.

I am glad things are starting to get better for everyone involved.  It is sad to lose someone so young.

With time it will feel less intense.

THANKYOU SO MUCH everyone.  Chris, the town of McHenry has actually been quite amazing.  The booster club has raised $7000 for the baby.  Our high school had a couple raffles at the home football games.  One business wrote a check for 2000, one for 1000.  First Midwest here had a fund set up for his wife.  I'm very pleasantly surprised.  One man from Wonder Lake is even making an oak crib for the baby!  It's just amazing. 

Mark, I will tell my friend about you.   She sounds better now than she has in a while, but I know it's up and down.  Like Sunday would've been Keith's bday and she called me that night, she was having a tough day.  I know her Mom isn't doing that well.  The funeral was by far the most emotional funeral I've ever been to.  I won't post anything more personal on here, but I do have a couple THINGS *clears throat loudly* I want to tell you guys.

This sucks. I am sorry about the loss of this person's life. Seems so wrong doesn't it? I will send energy and prayers as well. I am sure he will be missed greatly by so many.

I am not sure how great military benefits are for person's killed in combat......

Has anyone thought of doing a fund raiser for his unborn child? Maybe a good way to help the family put a way a little money in the babies name for future needs etc. Many businesses in the area may consider donating goods or services for a fundraising event. We had a friend that was killed in an accident and there was a silent auction with donated goods. Raised tons of money for his kid's future college and to help the family with other expenses.
