A couple of my friends and I took a drive down Cuba road, and we went down Rainbow Road to the Mansion, and at first we didn't see anything, then when we went to drive away we saw a couple different things. Doug and I were sitting in the front of the car and we both saw a women in white standing by the window closest to the door, and my friend Mike saw a man in all brown clothing standing in the window furthest from the front door and he said that it looked like he had a white sign tied to his neck that said something.
We also went to white cementery that night and found nothing but a bunch of mosquitos. It left me rather disappointed.
If any of you can give me an address to another haunted location by the elgin area it would be awesome. The spiritual world has always fascinated me and I love researching it and I love experiencing it even more!

me and a ton of friends packed into a car and went down cuba road tonight. it was fun we were goofing off and i was trying to find one of my friends who was driving towards us to find us and so we were looknig and finally we got close to them and we hear them on the phone scream omg that was freaky!. well turns out they saw 2 people on the side of the road facing away from the road just standing there it was around 9 maybe alittle before and as we apporached them we passed and kept gonig and we didnt see anything at all and they turned around and they didnt see anything again either it was really freaky

Just wanted to let you all know that there is going to be a showing of both movies, Legends and Return to Cuba Road. Here's a copy of the email that went out to the CNGM contact list.
Attention CNGM Pictures Supporters:
It's amazing how quickly our calendars fill up, especially around the holidays. Because of this we often miss out on last minute events that we would have loved to attend. So with that in mind, CNGM Pictures would like to let you know that we are in negotiations to host a back to back screening of Legends of Cuba Road and Return to Cuba Road (www.legendsofcubaroad.com) which was mentioned in the October 14th, and 23rd email. As promised, we have updated information. We currently have two dates available to us, November the 22nd and 24th. While we could easily decide a date for ourselves, we thought we would try out an new idea for CNGM which will hopefully bring us into better communication with you, our supporters. In the spirit of this weeks elections, we have set up on our forum a poll where you can vote for the date that suits you best. We understand that these dates are tremendously close to the holidays and with nomadic relatives involved, its often hard to guess when you'll be available. What we are trying to do is get the best estimate of when people can come so as to leave the least amount of people out that we can. Hello! I was googling CNGM Pictures and found your site! I'm one of the staff members and I noticed that you all tried to contact us some time back about information on our movie The Legends of Cuba Road. Unfortunately, the movie is a work of fiction, as well as its sequel Return to Cuba Road, which is premiering on October 13th. I've only been a marginal part of the second production and can honestly say that I have experienced any paranormal activity. But I'd love to get together with you and chat sometime about what you've experience. Recently a ton of articles showed up in local papers construing that our film company was producing movies that encouraged people to vandalize White Cemetery. There was a lot of hoopla that followed and between the research we've stirred up in making the two movies and all the conversations that the movies have started, I'm giving serious thoughts to creating a documentary on the area. Anything you all could contribute would be fantastic. Also, I'd love to invite you all to see our second movie when it premieres next month, partially because I'd love to get butts in seats to give this picture the premiere I think it deserves and also because the theatre that it is being shown in has a long history of unusually occurrences. I myself had an experience which I can only believe was a sighting of a spirit as I can find no other logical explanation. You also may find it interesting that we recently finished filming a TV show called, Irving Renquist, Ghost Hunter which we will be showing soon. I'd love to hear feedback on how authentic you guys find it to be and any suggestions on how we can make it more realistic. Well my goodness this has turned into a long post. My aunt and I had an interesting experience at White cemetary a few years ago, before they started locking the gates at all times. To be honest, it most likely doesn't have anything do with the location. My aunt was interested in checking out the cemetary since we'd all grown up hearing stories about the place.
We started wandering our seperate ways after we got there when my aunt called me over to where she was standing. I headed over that way and noticed that it looked like she'd been crying. Before I could ask her what was wrong she told me to stand next to a boulder that had been made into a grave stone. As soon as I got within about 5 feet of it, I literally felt like I was sinking and I could 'see' in my minds eye a woman sitting on the ground, resting her head and arms on the stone and sobbing. I very quickly backed away and told my aunt what I saw. She told me that as she approached the stone from the back, when she got about 5 feet away she started sobbing uncontrollably and she couldn't figure out why.
Then we looked at the stone and saw that it belonged to a child. We said a prayer for the mother of the child to find peace (the child had long since moved Home) and quickly left the area. I got a real education on how a location can hold a 'memory' of an event.

I saw my friend and met many other new friends who are from families that have been here in Barrington many generations. I was at a baby shower and the topic of hauntings came and went briefly but I did post a new topic about another home in Barrington that is up for sale AGAIN because it is known to be haunted. I brought up the cemetary and Rainbow and all the ladies acknowledged that (like it's old news) and quickly jumped on the fact that this older home in the village is up for sale. They all agreed that it is a well known haunted home in the village and anyone growing up here knows about it-these ladies had friends who lived in the house for short periods of time but quickly moved out because it's very active. I couldn't change the subject at that point. Maybe I'll host a ladies night out to talk haunted houses and paranormal. . . LOL

That school house on Cuba recently sold in the past 16 months. A friend of mine looked at it. I live right by Cuba and I know someone in the village who will probably know more about the story regarding Rainbow. Her family and her husband's family have been in Barrington for 3 and 4 generations. She knows nearly everything and everyone here! I'll ask her about it next week when I see her. Wish me luck!MM

Rainbow Road is off of Cuba Road and also Rt. 22 (depending which is closer to where you're at). There is supposedly a gravel road off of it that leads to a driveway to what used to be an old grand home where much strange activity has been noted. There is a large gate at the entrance of the old structure which has many rumored legends surrounding it - among which that it was an old mob hangout and an asylum of sorts... If any of this is true, no records have shown me this sofar in the area. BUT, I still don't have a stinkin' address for it so I can't look throroughly just yet. Once I can find that I might get some better clues. In any case, there is much activity supposedly here - even though the building itself has been demolished in the late 90's - the land still is vacant. I believe a barn or something still stands there, unless the internet is wrong in this or outdated. I'd just like to check it out once to see if there really is anything to see....
Hey, but there is one funky cool schoolhouse - converted to home along Cuba road that rocks! I would love to get an old building like that (churches are another one I'd love) to fix up for a home! It's beautiful!

We'll take the "Gate" trip one of these weekends. Maybe in March or April. Between shows and hunts and two jobs I'm having a hard time fitting new hunts in! It's CRAZY! We might be able to do that towards the end of March though, and it's pretty close so we won't be too hard on time like with the next couple we're doing. I'll start a post on the Gate to see if anyone knows anything.

I did drive by there the other day and noticed that the gates were open. Didn't know if that meant I was allowed in or not, but I didn't take my chances - even though I've never been there. However, I did notice something that I wanted to share with you guys that could explain SOME of the phenomenon. Many people describe these white "orb" lights that flash by them. As I was driving by, a car was coming towards me (at dusk) with it's lights on. For some reason as the car passed me, the angle or something, the lights from the other car made a reflection on the window of my car closest to the cemetary - obviously an orb shape do to the headlight shape - passed quickly by in my window, appearing (if I hadn't been looking at it directly) as if it were a large ball of "light" passing through the cemetery.
I personally have never been IN the cemetery so I can't make any claims to activity or non-activity, but I did want to share that with those of you to see if it might be able to explain something in your personal situation.
In other news... has anybody visited the alleged haunted "asylum" or whatever it is supposed to be on Rainbow Road? I tried driving down the entire length of it and couldn't spot it as I have no idea as to the location on Rainbow Road. Anybody been there or can tell me the location?

I have gone to White Cemetery before. While there, I didn't get anything on film or record anything, but at one point as I passed a grave my stomach dropped. I suddenly felt sick. (I don't know how else to explain it other than a "hey, pay attention" feeling.) I didn't say anything, just kept looking around and seconds later my friend said, "I feel really weird." She felt the same thing I did. The feeling didn't last for either of us for more than 30 seconds.
I know it's not much, but I just have to follow my instincts and say I think something is happening there. Maybe not to the extent of all the stories going around, but I think there's something. Unfortunately, the cemetery is now closed to all who do not have relatives buried there, so I can't look around inside anymore. Boo.
My husband grew right near Cuba road and drove down it regularly as a teen. He is a very skeptical person but still insists that one night while he and a friend were driving they saw a flash of white light zoom by. He doesn't think it was a typical light or reflection from anything.
Thus concludes my info to add to the list of legends!

My sparkles weren't coming off the fence or the tombstones. I don't feel they were paranormal just very odd and hard to explain easily. The sparkles were mid air between the tombstones and the lowest tree branches at varying depths. Some closer to street and some farther back in the cemetary. They weren't in front of my car (or head lights) but parallel to the car. This is probably how stories get sarted!

I have actually also driven by there when it was raining (this was about 3 years ago I think) and not only did I see "sparkles" off the gate-like fence like Chris but from the trees also. There are so many tree branches bending down into the cemetery and the water droplets just hang on them and it glistens. I'm not sure if this could've been part of what you saw also or not. What do you think?

When my haircut was over I drove home via NW Hwy to Cuba East. It was about 7:00 pm and raining/snowing. Traffic was medium heavy on Cuba. I wasn't driving in my SUV as I usually do but had my husband's Saab convertible. It's a lot lower to the ground. I noticed as I drove past White Cemetary there were all these weird reflections that I have NEVER ever experienced before. The reflections weren't off the tombstones but like little flashing lights all over the place in the cemetary. It did strike me as odd and it was near distracting (the lights) that I nearly drove off the road. I didn't feel it was paranormal but I don't know what it was. I keep switching cars with my husband to see if I can get a rep

So many stories about White Cemetery!
Funny you ask that. I do not believe what you saw was paranormal based on my own experience very similar to yours. I have a Honda Civic and it is very low to the ground also. The paint on the iron fencing to the cemetery is shiny. My headlights shine very bright and have a broad spectrum not just in front of the car but a little on the sides too. This very thing happened to me and when I drove by two more times it was the same. The fact that it was snowing/raining can intensify this. The light probably was refracting off of the rian drops and/or snow flakes.

I live in the neighborhood of White Cemetary and the alleged Cuba Road hauntings. First, there are a lot of stories about Cuba Road on a lot of "Haunted Locations" sites. A lot of them aren't correctly directing to the right location and/or are repeated but with multiple locations. A lot of errors just from a geographical view. There is history of the mob living in the Barrington area (on and near Cuba Road . . .). There are a few (ex-mob) homes here that have tunnels built from the home out to the barn (for a quick escape). I've never seen any of them but the stories have been published in the newspaper.
I'm an intuitive and feel NOTHING at the White Cemetary or on Cuba Road (except annoyance of all the road construction . . .). The cemetary is a very old looking cemetary and I think that alone has gotten the curiosity of people. I grew up in Chicago and heard about the cemetary over 25 years ago. It was a place to go and get a fright for bored teenagers. The Barrington police are very annoyed by all the attention the area draws. The cemetary causes a lot of near accidents and "stop and go" traffic in October. The police will and do arrest-often!!! The reason is that historic gravestones have been stolen and never relocated. It's my opinion that there isn't activity at the cemetary. As far as Cuba Road goes I couldn't possibly tell you. It's a long road that ends in Barrington Hills but I believe starts in Lake Zurich. Any number of homes and locations could be haunted within that range.
