Okay so I have always known about the Stickney Mansion in Bull Valley. The "house with no corners", but I never really thought it to be that haunted. Then last night I was at Applebees, I'm a big fan of there garlic mash potatoes, a whole segment comes up about the Mansion on the WGN news. It's now a police station and tey had all the people tlaking about there experiences with things happening. I guess the people that owned used to hold seinces and stuff there to. The cops of Bull Valley are known fo being pricks, but I'm sure we might be able to pull off some expedition there if we jsut talkt o them.

Oh no! That stinks that you couldn't go in!  Actually - we are pretty close to Stickney too, and I'd love to go in sometime since I've never been.  There was lady in the area wanting to do a historical book on the location including some of the ghost lore and work with a local group (US!) to get some photos perhaps in the place to add to the book.  She was supposedly looking into it with the authorities, but never got back to me.  Perhaps I'll steal her idea and try myself!!   So, if you decide to go back soon, let me know - I'm sure a couple of us would like to join you!!

Did you actually get to go inside? I'm jealous! I called there back in August (I think?) and talked to the chief of police. He was very nice and said next time I was in the area (I live about 15 minutes away) to feel free to stop in he would let me in to look around. He specified that upstairs was off limits, but he hoped that would change in the near future.

September rolled around and I finally had the chance to go. I got some pics of the outside and was so excited as I approached the door. When the chief of police answered, he told us he couldn't let us in and to come back another day. Someone was under arrest...what are the chances?!?

Maybe some day...

Like I said i was out for steak when it came on. apparently its the only house they know of that was built out of their religious beliefs in the area, besides a church of course. After the original members of the family started to die off the family held seinces in a room that is now a storage room. The police said their is a lot of noise through out the house upstairs with foot steps upstairs when no one is there. One reportedly walked upstairs to see an apparition of the owners face and then disappear. they say a lot of police come in and then leave because it is haunted. people have reportedly seen figures of ppl in the windows and things of that sort as well. That was the jist of it.

OOH - what did they say?  I did send a letter of inquiry there - but was returned to me as there is no mail receptacle there apparently.  I'll have to find another address.

I did hear a group was able to get an investigation there by making a case for themselves at a town meeting and presenting the opportunity there.  It was a group out of Lake County. I tried e-mailing the lead investigator but the e-mail is no longer valid and this attempt was back in late 2003 or early 2004.  I will keep looking.  But I'd love to hear what they said on the news!!

Ah, so it actually was on wgn, huh?  We were wondering if that aired!  Yeah, that's the story it gives in all the books.  That a group of satanists actually had lived there before it became a police station.  I never thought of it as haunted either, just because back when I was going to MCC I used to pass it every time I drove there and never thought twice about it.  I really thought that it was all hush-hush though, I'm shocked anyone talked . . . cuz you are very right about the cops there. *ahem*  LOL
