Well, for as long as I have been in this area people have mentioned good 'ol Elvira haunting her old seat in the Woodstock Opera House. I did e-mail the facility directors there to see if we could possibly set up an interview to at least find out the background of the alleged hauntings. I know they have always stated that there are NO hauntings there, but here's the confirmation. If anyone can find some valid proof behind hauntings there, send them my way to check out - or bring them with you to a meeting. Until then, may this location rest in peace - it doesn't look like we'll get any sort of go-ahead to check it out anytime soon.Erica,Thank you for your inquiry. While your offer is generous I am afraid that the story of a ghost at the Woodstock Opera House is just that; a story. The tale you most likely have read or heard about was originally created by the less-than-reputable tabloid The National Enquirer. I know you will be shocked to learn that their story was a complete fabrication. Unfortunately, many other publications reprinted variations of the story without checking the source or talking to us. I have run this facility for 28 years and I can assure you that the building IS NOT haunted. While we do periodically hear strange noises, the outcome of our investigations always finds that the sounds were caused by something that cost lots of money to fix. As an example; the last "haunting sound" we "investigated" turned-out to be the air conditioning condenser on the roof going bad and, more frightening than any ghost, it cost $15,000 to repair.Thank you for your interest in the Woodstock Opera House.John H.
