Hey, my name is Conor, and I'm a student at a local highschool. I need some help. I'm hooked on paranormal activity and the lack therof, and I want to write a thriller based on the Eastland Disaster for one of my papers. Any information that might help would be greatly appreciated. To counter and\y doubts of my real reason for joining, I'm honestly thrilled by ghost stories. I'm very practical when it comes to believing in things such as this, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun.Any help would rock. Thanks guys. And gals.

Good Luck Conor!   Great topic!--- I agree with the other two as far as the research goes.

Also Richard Crowe and Ursula Bielski have a great amount of knowledge regarding this topic and the hauntings in the area. They do tours in the Chicago area, maybe you should check out their tours also. Good luck with your book.

First, I would check out the Chicago Historical Society downtown for the real facts and info behind the disaster.  Then hit up the old articles from the Tribune and other Chicago papers to find the facts that you will really need for a good book.

As for the hauntings themselves - there are tons of books out there that speak of those at this point, so you can check some out.  I would go out and try to get some fresh interviews if you can though to keep things new and different from the other books that have been written on the subject.  The first stop would be the "temporary morgues" that they used, and speak to people at those locations about any happenings.  These seem to be the source of most of the hauntings linked to the disaster, though there are still reports of splashing and screams at the site of the actual occurrance.

Thanks for coming to join us here - hope to hear from you more!

HAPPY HAUNTINGS!!
