Well, I'm home and all is well. I know all of you were helping me out energy wise!!
I was at the hospital most of the day on Friday. They prodded me just about every place they could to find a vein to run the IV, but eventually they brought in the troops to find one that worked! I guess my mom really was with me, that was what always happened to her and usually I don't have that problem! Maybe that was her way of letting me know! :-P I went into surgery much after the time they had planned, about 10:30 or so. I didn't get out around 2 or so, it was a pretty long procedure. They really took care of me making sure I wouldn't get sick from anesthesia, as I commonly do, so I am very grateful for that! I was only under what they called "twilight", so I actually woke up at a few points during the surgery when they were increasing my heart rate in order to find the problem. I thought I was having a heart attack each time!!! It was quite painful and felt like my heart was beating so fast out of my chest yet I was absolutely still and couldn't do a thing about it! It happened about 3 times that I recall. But they did find the problem with no issue. They stuck two catheters up through my groin area and one down through my neck to access the heart. Apparently I also had extra tissue forming around the secondary nerve that they were taking care of, which was also contributing to my problem. It was something I was apparently born with and just accumulated over time. So... all was fixed, with no problem so far! I was pretty sore and tired after the surgery, but they sent me home around 7:30 pm on Friday night. The only thing keeping me from walking much is the area where they stuck the catheters in my groin, really hurts when I walk.
So I'm at home resting, today is the first day I've really felt up to sitting at the computer at all. I get pretty tuckered quickly, especially on stairs, I have to stop and rest halfway. No lifting above 5 lbs, and I know why. Even just sitting with my cat on my lap will get me winded, and I'm not really supporting him. It will get easier though, dr. gave me about a week to start getting up to par with those things. About two weeks will get me back to normal walking about. Probably in 3 I can exercise normally again... pretty amazing how quickly the body can recover. I'm lucky I'm pretty healthy otherwise. I even went in there with a cold which is now pretty much gone!! Every once in a while I get little sharp fleeting pains in my chest, but they last only a second. I'm sure that is just part of the healing and I don't think it's much to worry about. If it lasts past this week I think I'll talk to my doc about it.
I'm pretty bruised and sore and the groin, and my neck is still sensitive to turn much - but both are getting better. I am getting around better, but am still sluggish and taking my time. Most of my day is in bed. That's getting old quick, but not much I can do about it! At least I have my new camera to learn and will be playing with that today. I think I've already watched every movie I own... well, time to work on my own now I guess - I've got two weeks!
Well, I'm gonna get busy on some stuff here for as long as I can sit at my computer. I'll keep you posted on what's going on. And thanks again so much for all the energy and thoughtst!!!
Lots of Love,
Erica
