OK, so the idiots made it out to Chicago in last night's episode.. and of ALL PEOPLE... they were looking for Nat King Cole. I can think of a million dead celebrities who had more influence in Chicago than that guy... hmm... Al Capone maybe being #1, but no - that episode was filmed everywhere BUT in his business hub. Hmm... do they actually know about the people they look for?
In any case, they went to Excalibur... of course. And did Nat King Cole even ever GO there... well, no - but it IS one of Chicago's most haunted locations... so let's film there. Dummies. I still have never been there, and would love to actually see what we could pull up. They called in the Chicago Coffee Psychic... ok, cue vomiting.... that chick made me angry to watch. Apparently the director/camera operator was knocked on her ass nearly fainting... I caught the tail end of this... everyone rushing to her assistance. They called it a night after that happened. Oh, and upon entering the building in one of the storage areas a plastic cup comes from off a high-up shelf to fall behind Chris. Not much was up there supposedly and they "don't know" what would have caused it. I hate tv shows because you can't see for yourself what may have cuased it... grr...
Did anyone else see this episode, or am I blindly venting?
Then... they went to Rico D's... well, that was the first time they mentioned Nat King Cole having been there - and how many times have I been to the place now?? It's claim to fame is being Al Capone's speakeasy... not even one drop of the name!! WTF? Then there was the owner... I don't even want to go into what an idiot he came off as on the show. They were filming sometime during the winter - there was some serious snow going on there! I was actually happy because they called in some real ghosthunters with equipment for this portion of the show. though I can't find them anywhere on the web, they are called the "Chicagoland Ghost Trackers" I believe. They didn't have a ton of equipment that I saw, but luckily they did bring with them a quad monitor with camera setup. Most of you know that I am very weary of orbs, but I thought they caught some interesting footage of orbs on video at first look. So I'm kind of anxious to go back over the show and see if I can make sense of any of it. One seemed especially impressive, it appeared behind Don at one point as a huge ball of light, and as Don walks through a doorway, the orb actually shoots around and in front of him into the room! You can see the size of it actually change because of the perspective from the camera... and it scoots into the room and you lose it behind (I forget which one) either Don or the door frame. I was actually very impressed. I have to look again, I was watching this last night before bed, so maybe I missed something. They caught tons of fluttering orbs flitting about... some I can not pass off as dust just because of the movements and brightness and perspective from them... and I doubt bugs just because there was a flippin' blizzard outside, but I guess you never know. They called the night quits after Gail went into "Adam's" room and got overcome with a feeling about the room... Don seems to think she was taken over by one of the resident ghosts "Isabelle". Upon their exit interview Gail reports that she may be waiving her skeptical nature after that experience... hmm.... oh - and Carol & Amy - they of course never made it into the attic that we saw... bummer. Still have to post that EVP for you guys... what a good one!
I'd be curious to know what you guys think if you saw it. Try and catch it on re-runs if you can.

The broad shaved her head for this season...
Now, see she's probably sick or something and I'm being a total @$$... but if not, what the hell is she thinking? Brits don't shave their heads - do they?

And the funny thing about a lot of these places they go to . . they ARE charged with energy of some sort but they never end up "finding" the celeb they are looking for. Maybe they are going about it the wrong way? I didn't see the Morrison episode, but I did see the Elvis one. The only thing that impressed me with that is the "vision" of cornfields or whatever that Chris had. I guess there was a pic in the house of Elvis by a pool that was near a cornfield or something. BUT we don't know if he had seen this pic first, ya know? AND it means nothing depending on where you are. Here in Illinois, if you mention having a vision of someone in a cornfield we could ALL be like "OMG! WE LIVED NEAR ONE!" LOL
So far I think what has made the most sense was when they were talking about how hard we all hang on to celebs. I think they talked about it in the Marilyn Monroe episode. We idolize our celebs so much, keep them "alive" in so many ways . . how do we know we are not making it harder for them to move on?

HAHAHA! Your comment about finding the ghost of a dead celebrity at a soundstage in which they only spent a few days at really had me laughing! I totally agree that although possible, its probably not likely! And you're right, some of them were hard enough to contact while they were alive!

You know, they're so up in the air for me. I am perpetually stuck to the screen even though I find issues with some of their techniques... go figure! I guess it's simply because it is a paranormal show and I'll watch everything that comes along! The psychic is less than stellar if you ask me, and Gail being a skeptic makes me laugh. Because off the investigation she's all about finding out the facts and questioning the co-host about things, but get her in the dark and a cricket chirps she wigs out! It makes me laugh. I really have nothing against them, it's just I think she's not as skeptical as she claims to be - and I don't really enjoy his bouts of possessions. As for the theme of their show "hunting down ghosts of deceased stars", it's a great theory - but do you really think you've got the odds in your favor for searching down dead celebrities. They were hard enough to contact in life... I'm sure they aren't all about hiding in the corner of some soundstage they worked at approximately 30 days out of their life when they were 20 years old or something. Not that they don't come across their fair share of footage, I have actually seen a few things that I actually find myself being intrigued by. But not when they are standing on a 4-lane highway outside of Graceland's gate recording EVP's that they say are the screams of an angry fan (but which astoundingly sound similar to tires on a road rushing by...). It's all about knowing how to investigate... and they help prove that just because you have some equipment doesn't mean you know how to take good evidence with it. Or maybe they know exactly what they are doing, and to the untrained viewer they can make them think they caught something on an otherwise uneventful investigation. Who knows? I still watch it...
There are a few episodes, like I said, that they actually did come up with some impressive footage - be it EVP or video. But then there are some where I think " are you absolutely kidding me??"... another one that jumps out at me, I can't think of where they were at - I wish I could, but they were "alone" other than the film crew supposedly and Gail is standing in a doorway and she pans the camera around behind her because she thinks she "feels" something behind her during a seance going on in the room she's in the doorway of. She swears up and down that there was no one physically there when she turned, but the video clearly shows a solid man clear as day standing behind her - down to every wrinkle on his face. Now... I can't sit here and claim that I can say for sure that they didn't catch a real apparition on film, but the guy was so dang clear that I couldn't imagine a real ghost ever being that solid looking. I couldn't believe that maybe Gail was just wrong, it was really dark in there and perhaps just couldn't see some guy had walked up behind her to watch what was going on in the room. Like I said, I will never know, but it did bug me when I saw it.
However, I've really been impressed with other EVPs of theirs, which is why I'm upset when they call that hoopla at Elvis' place an EVP - they know better! They've caught the real thing before!

I can't stand this show, but I did see the episode on John Wayne and I must say that you're right, some of that footage was impressive. The only other episode I saw was on Jim Morrison and I was quite disappointed.

Somehow I've gotten hooked on Dead Famous. I LOVE the girl who is a skeptic. Usually I like the shows that are more scientific than this one. They don't use much technology . . . maybe it's the lives of the stars they investigate that interests me too???
If anyone watches this show, let me know if you saw the episode on John Wayne. They showed some footage that, if real, was quite impressive . . .
