I was so bummed they didn't get more at the Willard Library. And yes, how the hell do you get a clear EVP while walking around? I don't get it.

I still Tivo the buggers... Lord knows I'm never home except at lunch to watch anything anyways... lol! Why do I still watch? Who knows... I'm perpetually afixed to the screen when it comes to ghosts I guess.
I do like that show "A Haunting" Mandy told us about. It's all "ghost stories" acted out from real life events. I just like hearing the flat out stories I guess of how people deal with the hauntings on a normal basis and hearing what happens to them. Some of it is hoaky, but what can I say? I love this stuff.

I have to agree with you, Erica. I stopped watching long ago cuz that show was driving me up the wall. Plus I'm sure the fact that I'm too busy nowadays to even watch much TV helps, too.

I just have a huge problem with TAPS being so "scientific" as they say they are, but did not show footage of them conducting this alleged "experiment" to prove that they caught a ghost in this hallway at Waverly... oh and nice bat on the wall... ghost my ass.

I think your issue with their views of orbs is that you are missing what the point is.Orbs are not ghosts caught on film. They acknowledge that orbs are balls of energy sometimes used by spirits to enter our realm...and that orbs in fact may be a manifestation of something larger...Or, they may just be balls of dust rising up in a dusty basement. The reason they discount them so quickly is because they can be discounted so quickly and homeowners may not believe what they are. The job of paranormal investigators is to show paranormal activity that cannot refuted - chairs moving or objects moving down hallways or sound guys getting hit by his own equipment - not an orb where someone would say "its a piece of dust."Their role since they created the show is to catch actual apparitions on film in such a way that no one can dispute their c
Great explaination! There is also the fact that ords are captured more from digital camers than on film. This is because of the resolution, if you have an orb picture try it yourself with Photoshop: change the resolution and you will notice the greater resolution the orb will start to disappear. I did this experiement and it was very interesting. Now, not all the orbs will go away, obviously if they are dust or flyling bugs but the ones that are perfectly round...well try it.
As far as Waverly I have been there a couple times, it is a fantastic place to investigate, personally the only way I would go back is if we had the freedom to investigate on our own, but it is still worth the $100 to at least see and be there all night if you have never gone. They are very stict with having to stay with the group. As far as the TAPS show, well I found it very interesting when they caught the movement on the thermal from the 4th floor, the group I was with did quiet observation on that floor due to the reports of activity and I have to tell you that at lest 5 people saw a "shadow" walking in a crouched postion towards us, not walking across the hall as TAPS "captured" it but it seemed to be the same shape. I found that very interesting and so did 2 of the people that were on the same investigation as me since my phone started ringing 1 minute after the show ended. Total proof...no especially since we didn't capture it on film, but enough to raise an eyebrow! Just so you know there are a lot of rooms that the windows are out of but the ceilings are intact and totally closed. The back of the building, which is the side you see when you pull up is strange, those huges "windows" that you see actually weren't windows it is like a porch with rooms just inside there, if you look at pictures they would have people sit or laying in this "porch" area to get the sunlight..if you saw the pics with the lady laying in bed with snow on her this is where it was taken from.
It does seem like TAPS is selling out to TV, I guess it would be a hard situation to be in let's face it I am sure they have to eat a lot shit to keep those cameras, vans and the stuff they have. Personally I don't think I would ever be able to sell out like that!

Ok- we all saw the thing running across the hall. I got so excited I know my neighbors think I'm out of my mind. I couldn't help but scream with excitment. Any thoughts on what flew across the basement from wall to wall? Great episode!!!!! I want to go SO bad! *NOTE: This was the "Waverly" Show 3/19
OOPS, just realized I never replied to this....
Ummm... so - if any of you have ever had the blessing of going to Waverly, you will know it's strewn with creatures as there are NO WINDOWS, and barely roofs in the place!! Hence, animals happen. Whatever they caught on thermal I am still debating... I simply think it was a creature of some sort getting the hell outta there - and just because they didn't find it when they looked??? ARE THEY KIDDING ME>>>> it is full of hidy holes for raccoons and shit to hide. PUHLEEZ! Then the fact that they "did an experiment" to see how tall it was and apparently Grant did some thing where he walked to where the "thing" ran from and held his arms out and they decided the "thing" was 3 feet high... to tall for a raccoon...
Umm...
Why didn't they show us THAT on tape? If you conduct an expiriment like that, you film it dumbfucks. You film every other non-important tidbit as possible, why wouldn't they film THAT?? Especially when they are all about "debunking" as they say they are and want to disprove before readily accept things. Well well... I've found a flaw in their little "style" I guess. Anyways, I am without words to this, as they can't even follow their own guidelines and until they can do that, it was a bloody raccoon to me because that's what it looked like to me... not human legs with nothing else as they claimed it to be.
As for the thing flying from wall to wall... any second grader learns about bats - and how they roost... in cielings... on WALLS.... you nitwits!!! I can't believe them... "uh, it's not a bat... duh...." "I dunno, can't be a bat... bat's don't live on walls...." Um... if you had reached a second grade educational level, you might have learned that, so I can't really fault them that they never reached that level 'cuz ma and pa couldn't afford to send them... look at the freaking thing... it even LOOKS like a bat... but no... it must be a flailing orb of some sort... maybe.... um... whatever...
nice job "debunking" you frauds!! take someone else for a ride, and stop stealing Sci-Fi money - I'd rather watch them come up with no evidence then insult the intelligence of viewers. I'm too angry to keep typing... because... we have to PAY $100 to go spend ONE night there with a bunch of other people... while THEY get to go in for TWO nights all alone... for free most likely - because they are the almighty TAPS....
TAPS can bite a monkey ball.... I'm done with them.... until they can follow their own rules...

Those rat bastards are going to Waverly Hills this week...
Will they leave nothing that is sacred to ghost hunters everywhere alone for goodness sake???? It makes me sad that they get invited to these places for free because they are so '"reputable" and on tv... while the rest of the poor schmucks out there get to pay their way... what makes these guys so great anyways? Please explain...

Personally I wouldn't pick it up... I kind of figured it would have some lame excuse for extra footage... that's how they are normally... so...
Thanks for letting us know though. I don't know why I bother recording them as it is... but I guess it's to subdue my hankering for ghosts year round when Halloween time is not about and ghost shows are around every flip of the channel. Plus... I guess out of all of the "hunter" shows, it is the best... it's all about their little dramas though - which bugs me. "Desperate Ghost Wives"

http://ghosthuntersdvd.com/ For those that want season 1... I'm sure season 2 will follow shortly.(However I have all episodes burned from my own TV - less commercials if you would like to borrow them - Season 1 and 2.) Theirs apparently has "never before scenes".... For $30 - 10 episodes.MARCH 29 marks the new season on Sci Fi... for those who watch.
Troy Hartman (SWPRG MEMBER) was telling us about the season 1 dvd during our road trip last sunday. He said the never before scenes were a joke and just of Grant and Jason talking. Not sure if he recommends buying it or not, you could always e-mail him.

I was (kinda) watching Conan O'Brien tonight and heard that he's got the fellas from TAPS on tomorrow night (Thursday) as guests. I wasn't paying too close of attention to it, but I don't think tonight was a rerun of Late Night, so hopefully it will actually be on tomorrow.

Ah orbs. Hmmm. As far as I'm concerned, I'm only interested if it is its own light source (does that make sense?) and if it moves fast or in changing directions. Aside from that, I barely glance at "orb" pictures. I need more than that to convince me!
That episode of ghosthunters was so good! When I first saw the footage of the figure by the locker I was SURE that it was Jason or Grant because it was SO clear!!! I was like "where's the ghost?" LOL Than OMG!!! That was great. IMPRESSIVE. As for what the thermal caught during the reading . . WOW. THAT gave me the chills. It's absolutely amazing footage IMO. Erica, I never thought of using it during a reiki but that's a great idea and now I'm curious. I said the same thing, I would love to get my hands on one of those. *sigh* It would be so interesting to experiment with it!!!

Chairs moving or objects moving CAN and always will be refuted though by any skeptic. I am one of the most skeptical people out there, though I admit did not always think that way. And unless you are in the location itself at the time the investigation is being performed. If we want to discuss "orbs" you might want to take this discussion to the other topics! I can go on for hours about their validity. In fact I did touch on them very briefly at the meeting this week, but I know you could not make it.
I have caught some great "fraudulent evidence" of orbs (be it dust or bugs, or whatever) that I do plan on showing the group so they can compare their findings to what is actually not valid orb activity. To just dismiss every single orb you see as "a dust" as Steve calls it on the show... I can not always agree on that.
All I am saying with this is - Don't base your investigation on the one piece of evidence being an orb. Disprove the thing before you call it any sort of activity. Try to recreate it with your equipment before accepting it. If you can recreate it than it is not submittable as evidence. If the one orb is the only thing you've found, I really wouldn't say it's the basis for a haunting. If it's something you couldn't recreate though, I would still show it to the owner, but obviously proves nothing as far as a haunting is concerned. And actually I don't believe that orbs are necessarily the manifestation of the actual ghost. I'll jot you down a note on the findings from many, many different investigators - that I researched and found that they all seemed to find a common ground on this, and I feel is most likely the most accurate to describe the nature of orbs.
A NOTE on ORBS:
Though some investigators typically believe that orbs are actually a spirit manifestation, I have done some research on different concepts about this theories surrounding them. I have found that it is believed that orbs are not actually the "spirit" in body itself, but rather the collection of energy gathering for a spirit to manifest itself. Commonly this would be energy being transferred from a source - be it from power lines, heat (producing coldspots), batteries (hence draining), electrical appliances, people, etc. According to the laws of physics, energy transfer would assume the natural shape of a sphere, thus the common spherical shape of orbs caught on evidence. This would also verify any EMF fluctuations witnessed during any of these phenomenon, as energy transfers could potentially alter the physical electrical and magnetic atmospheres. (We will discuss this more in depth in future meetings.)
NOW - on to more exciting things:
This week had some truly great evidence. The apparition at the Crecent Hotel was amazing. It's a place I've wanted to visit since I found out about it in 2000. I still can't get over the "2" on the locker... and they did exactly what I wanted them to do, but placing their hand on it to see if they could get it to glow to recreate what they saw... nothing came close, the "2" was outlined so perfectly in a different color on the monitor originally, but during recreation, they couldn't come close! Amazing! We need a thermal imaging camera... gee, if I just had an extra $10,000 laying around for that! And the images it caught during the "psychic reading" actually made me wonder what the energy transfer process does work out to look like if you could visualize it. Made me really want one of those cameras for a REIKI session!!! Interesting that no evidence was really found at his home.... I have to wonder if he is actually the conductor of the happenings (sort of his own poltergeist if you will). Who knows? They really didn't find much - but that footage was phenomenal!!!

Their role since they created the show is to catch actual apparitions on film in such a way that no one can dispute their claims. Orbs, despite your feeling on them, are not actual proof that ghosts exist - which is what they try to do.

I love their skepticism, but I think sometimes they are a bit too analytical. I know they don't like working with psychics (and from my own experiences, I know why...) though I do believe there are some true and valid ones out there, we just need to weed through the crazies to find them! They also dismiss orbs immediately. I think even though orbs themselves may not be a ghost, they can be a sign of activity surfacing for one to manifest. I've got some great dust and bugs to show them to state that not ALL orbs are dust and should not all be dismissed! Especially if other activity is caught! I just feel that they readily dismiss things like that all too easily. Hmm.... I understand that where they are at with that though... needing solid proof to show the home owners what they have caught. You know... I am kind of torn about that though. I think you should present the evidence you catch. Let the person decide for themselves. Present your orb (if you can prove it's dust or otherwise, show them HOW you think it is dust or a bug... if you think it's a real physicalization of activity of some form... tell them WHY... just don't leave it at "that's what we think and that's the end all be all...". That's just my thinking though. I love the group though, and like the way they run.

Yeah, it's a must see for me! Even if I don't necessarily agree with everything all the time I learn from it. I like the way they are skeptical. In fact, I kinda got "flamed" on a different message board the other night for defending the show.

I enjoy this show, I enjoy the way the are very practical about how they go about things
The episode in New Orleans made me nostalgic
and the one investigating the ship made me laugh at the look on their faces
